A dive into EDCI 336

Week Six: Personal Learning Networks in Practice

The last two weeks have made a lasting impact on how to implement inclusive practices. Being an educator, and going through UVIC’s education program I have been lucky enough to learn from Shelly Moore and base my approach to inclusion in the classroom on her fundamental ideas and principles. The way she highlights and explains the differences between inclusion, exclusion, segregation and integration and defines what true inclusion looks like is something I strive to have in my classroom. Already in the first couple years of starting my professional career, I have found ways that my PLN has helped me find ways to be more inclusive in my teaching practices. Two examples of how social media has made me more inclusive are that it has led me to Shelly Moore, her YouTube and Instagram are incredible resources to draw from as well as Trever Mackenzie whose Instagram, Blog and podcasts dive deep into ways of transforming the classroom through Inquiry.
