Personal Learning Networks (PLN) and Digital Identity:
This week we looked at and talked about three articles that focused on PLNs and digital identity. An undertone that I picked up on throughout this week was it’s the responsibility of the individual to create their own PLN and digital identity. One of the best ways to do so is networking, specifically, networking through social media. Networking follows the pretty simple stages of building maintaining and activating. The articles also talked about how networking doesn’t have to always be done online and that building face-to-face personal connections with people who share similar interests can be a very effective way of building your PLN. Little story time: In my second year of the UVIC Elementary Education program I was introduced to Trevor Mackenzie, through a Zoom seminar I shared his love for innovation in the education system, specifically, inquiry-based learning. I followed him on Instagram used his ideas in my practicums and met him again in Zoom meetings 2 years later where I was able to talk to him about the influence he had on my teaching.”
